Level 5 is no doubt a top team that’s putting all of the resources they need behind this program. It’s very good to be coming back in with a top ride in one of the biggest endurance races of the year.”

The 33-year-old Scot, brother of three-time IZOD IndyCar Series champion Dario Franchitti, has driven a wide variety of prototypes. In 2007, Franchitti was a part of the initial year of development of the ARX-01a with Andretti Green Racing before moving onto a two-year stint with Dyson Racing, also in LMP2.

Franchitti once again returned to drive the Honda-powered prototypes in 2010 with Highcroft Racing as the third driver for its ARX-01c effort in the American Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans, earning the overall pole position at the Twelve Hours of Sebring and wins at Laguna Seca and Petit Le Mans. His efforts helped propel Highcroft to drivers’ and teams’ championship.

Most recently, Franchitti earned a runner-up result in this year’s Twelve Hours of Sebring with Highcroft’s HPD ARX-01e LMP1 car. He also played a crucial role in the development of HPD’s 2.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine, which powers Level 5′s new LMP2 cars.

“A car is a car and guys like Scott [Tucker], Christophe [Bouchut] and Joao [Barbosa] are good to drive it to the maximum that it’s capable of,” Franchitti said. “But especially me, having driven every iteration of it now, and Luis as well with being involved, it certainly helps with bringing experience.

“It’s also great working with [engineer] Rick Mayer, who I worked with before and [engineer] Jeff Braun. There’s a lot of people that I’ve worked with before that are on the team. To me, it seems like the ultimate situation. I’m really excited to get back out there and into the American Le Mans Series and back into a prototype.”

Franchitti is searching for his third consecutive Petit Le Mans LMP2 victory. He will have his first opportunity to sample the HPD ARX-01g early next week during a two-day test at Road Atlanta. Level 5 anticipates having its second car, the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup-designated No. 33 HPD for Tucker, Christophe Bouchut and Joao Barbosa, also on track.

The 2011 American Le Mans Series Presented by Tequila Patrn season concludes on Oct. 1 with the 14th annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta. The race will air on ABC at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 2. Live coverage will be available in the U.S. on ESPN3 or outside the U.S. on americanlemans.com. Rogers Sportnet One in Canada and MotorsTV in Europe will also provide coverage. Ticket and schedule information is available on the ALMS schedule page.

The purpose of your spark plugs is to ignite the compressed air and fuel contained inside your engine’s combustion chambers. This results in a small explosion followed by a quick expansion of gases. These gases force each cylinder’s piston downward in the chamber. The pistons are attached to your car’s crankshaft, which rotates as the pistons move. The crankshaft’s rotations power your vehicle.

When spark plugs become fouled or damaged, they often lose their ability to deliver a spark. An engine may still operate, but not at its peak level of performance. It might misfire, stumble while idling, and hesitate during acceleration. Eventually, the fouled spark plugs will cause your engine to become less reliable.

This article will provide a quick step-by-step tutorial for changing a bad spark plug in your vehicle. The procedure is relatively simple, and can be completed in less than half an hour, even if you have little experience working on your car.

Step 1: Gather The Right Tools

You can’t replace your spark plugs without using the right tools. You’ll need a ratchet wrench with a set of socket extensions. You’ll also need a spark plug socket. Plan to have a few towels within reach so you can clean your hands. And of course, make sure your replacement set of plugs are nearby.

Step 2: Take Out The Plug Wire

The spark plugs are found at the end of the rubber hoses that lie across the top of the engine, or to its side. These hoses are the spark plug wires. Each cylinder will have at least one wire and one plug.

The plugs fire in a particular sequence, and each belongs to a specific cylinder. For this reason, avoid removing all of them at the same time. Remove and replace them one by one. Start at one end, and work your way toward the other.

Gently grab the wire as closely as you can near its nest, and pull it straight out. Don’t yank it since doing so can damage it. Once you have removed the wire, you’ll see the end of the spark plug poking upward from the engine block. This part of the plug is called the terminal.

Step 3: Remove The Old Plug

Attach the appropriate socket extension to your ratchet wrench, and place it onto the exposed plug. Then, pull the plug from the engine block.

Step 4: Inspect The Old Plug

With the bad plug removed, inspect it. Take a close look at the end opposite the terminal. Look for signs of deposits, burning, wetness, and glazing. Each of these symptoms imply something about your engine, and may highlight serious problems.

For example, if you notice an accumulation of thick, black material near the gap, oil is likely getting into the combustion chamber. If the material appears less solid, it might suggest excessive fuel is getting into the chamber, producing a rich air-fuel mixture. You might also see blistering near the gap. This could mean the chamber is too hot, which in turn might imply the ignition timing is off (i.e. advanced) or the valves are sticking.

The reason to check for these and other problems is because they can foul or damage a new spark plug. It is better to resolve such issues before installing the plug.

Step 5: Install The New Plug

Once you are ready to install the new spark plug, place it into its nest in the engine block. Then, gently thread it (turn it clockwise) by hand. It is necessary to seat the plug by hand at first to avoid damaging the threads. Once you have turned it a few times, finish seating it with the socket extension. It should be snug, but not overly tight. Lastly, attach the spark plug wire to the terminal end of the plug.

Step 6: Test Your New Plug

Remove your tools, and start your engine. Listen to make sure the new plug is working properly. Once you have done so, turn the engine off. Consider the job finished.

It’s important to change bad spark plugs as soon as you notice a problem since they can affect the fuel economy and performance of your engine. Use the tutorial above to guide you along the way.

For ventilation appliances, air conditioning filters are of pivotal importance. This is the part of the unit responsible for cleaning out the insides of the appliance. Without it, the unit would be bogged down with dirt and slow down.

Any electromechanical appliance should be maintained properly. If this is not done, its efficiency will reduce considerably. Well maintained units last long, and they also work well without frequent breakdowns. This is a good way to ensure that you forgo the cost of replacing the whole unit once it breaks down completely.

Regular cleaning of these parts should be done, preferably every two weeks. In addition, it is also advisable to make replacements every three months or so. If this is not done your unit will have less efficiency. Most people opt for fiberglass, and they have their own reasons for that. What you ought to know, however, is that it is the cheapest material available. I am going to clarify the meaning of a usually used amp parameter: “signal-to-noise ratio” in order to help you make an informed choice whilst getting a brand new amplifier.

Once you have selected a range of amps, it’s time to investigate several of the specs in more detail in order to help you narrow down your search to one product. One important parameter of power amps is the signal-to-noise ratio. To put it simply, the signal-to-noise ratio shows how much hum or hiss the amplifier is going to add to the audio signal. This ratio is generally described in decibel or “db” for short.

A method in order to accomplish a straightforward test of the noise performance of an amp is to short circuit the amplifier input and then to crank up the amplifier to its utmost. Subsequently listen to the loudspeaker which you have attached. The static that you hear is created by the amp itself. Then compare several amps according to the following rule: the smaller the amount of static, the better the noise performance of the amplifier. On the other hand, keep in mind that you have to set all amps to amplify by the same level in order to evaluate different amps.

To help you evaluate the noise performance, amplifier makers show the signal-to-noise ratio in their amp spec sheets. Simply put, the larger the signal-to-noise ratio, the smaller the amount of noise the amp produces. Noise is generated due to several reasons. One reason is that modern amps all employ elements like transistors in addition to resistors. Those components are going to generate some amount of hiss. Given that the amp overall noise performance is mostly determined by the performance of elements situated at the amp input, suppliers will attempt to choose low-noise elements whilst designing the amplifier input stage.

The majority of modern power amps are digital amplifiers, also referred to as “class-d amps”. Class-D amplifiers utilize a switching stage which oscillates at a frequency in the range of 300 kHz to 1 MHz. This switching noise can cause some amount of speaker distortion yet is generally not included in the the signal-to-noise ratio which only considers noise in the range of 20 Hz and 20 kHz.

Manufacturers measure the signal-to-noise ratio by means of setting the amplifier such that the full output swing may be achieved and by inputting a test signal to the amplifier that is generally 60 dB underneath the full scale of the amplifier. Then, the noise floor between 20 Hz and 20 kHz is calculated and the ratio to the full-scale signal computed. The noise signal at different frequencies is eliminated by a bandpass filter during this measurement.

One more convention to express the signal-to-noise ratio utilizes more subjective terms. These terms are “dBA” or “A weighted”. You will find these terms in the majority of amp spec sheets. This technique attempts to evaluate in how far the amp noise is perceived by human hearing which is most sensitive to signals at frequencies at 1 kHz. An A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio weighs the noise floor in accordance to the human hearing and is usually larger than the unweighted signal-to-noise ratio

Between car insurance, life insurance, health insurance, public liability insurance, and business insurance you can see that there’s lots of kinds of insurance. One of the hardest things about insurance is determining which types you need to cover possible losses from your risk.

Life insurance is essential for family members to car for your dependents after the loss of your life. Getting a quote for life insurance can be easy, but knowing how much coverage you need isn’t. Insurance San Jose or Insurance Fremont could be helpful searches to find insurance companies that can give you a life insurance quote. Having life insurance is a great way to start with insurance policies.

However, life insurance is often unnecessary when the loss won’t affect dependents. In this case a life insurance policy would be unnecessary, and the money could buy another insurance policy to cover areas of risk for you.

Auto insurance is the most common type of insurance because it is required to drive a car. If you don’t have a car you don’t need car insurance. A car insurance quote is easy to find. The auto insurance will provide coverage for any losses from an auto accident.

Another common type of insurance is home insurance. This covers losses related to the home, and the coverage may include home repairs. Home insurance is required by some mortgage companies, but many insurance companies offer home insurance along with other insurance, such as auto insurance.

If home insurance is not required by a lender it is the option of the owner. Some regions require home insurance, so check for insurance San Jose or insurance Fremont to see if you need home insurance. This type of insurance is a smart choice, since the risk of losses relating to home disasters are in the coverage.

Some types of insurance cover the risk of disability from work. This type of insurance policy is recommended for people with a job that has a high injury risk. The coverage would include paying for medical bills and supporting your family.

Disability insurance is similar to worker’s comp, but is more reliable. To find an insurance company offering disability insurance you may need to look for an insurance company specifically geared to this type of insurance. It is recommended to get an insurance quote and compare it to your worker’s comp. Disability is smart to cover the risk of losses from an injury and to supplement the coverage of worker’s comp.

Another essential insurance type is health insurance. Many companies provide health insurance for their employees. The main health insurance options are an HMO or a traditional health insurance policy. An HMO often costs less, but the coverage is more restrictive on the companies you use for the health care. People not insured with health insurance will find it difficult to pay for health care. An insurance policy for health insurance can be complicated, but talking to a rep at an insurance company can help you understand your insurance quote better.

Insurance can be confusing, but is necessary to protect you from unexpected losses. An agent at an insurance company can walk you through an insurance quote for any type of insurance that you want.

I discovered there are stores that I shop at in which I have cultivated a religious tendency to only buy items when a money saving coupon or discount is available to me, whereas such an aversion to paying full price has not manifested in me at other stores I like to shop at.

While I realize this I should probably feel somewhat guilty about this lack of consistency in my character and I should be more stringent about using coupons and/or discounts at all stores I like to shop it, but truth be told, I can only spend so much time saving money before it wears me out!
Scott Tucker scored yet another national title Friday at Road America, as the Level 5 Motorsports owner/driver took home the gold medal in a thrilling down-to-the-wire duel to claim his third consecutive SCCA National Championship.

In one of his best drives in his young six-year racing career, Tucker used the strength of his Microsoft Office 2010-sponsored Porsche 996 Twin-Turbo to fend off a hard-charging Dodge Viper of David Pintaric lap after lap around the famed 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course.

A crash by two fellow STO class competitors put the field under a full-course caution for over 20 minutes and set up a final six-lap sprint to the finish, with pole-sitter Tucker in prime position for the win. While Pintatic managed to get up alongside the 500-plus horsepower Porsche on two occasions, Tucker failed to relinquish the lead over the entire 12-lap, 40-minute timed race.

Showing the experience of a two-time defending champion, Tucker managed to bridge out a narrow gap on the Viper to take a 0.728-second victory at the checkered flag. It brought an end to an exciting battle that wasn’t decided until the final corner on the final lap.

“It was a great race,” Tucker said. “David [Pintatic] had pressure on me everywhere. There wasn’t a lap to let up. I was very impressed with his driving. He pushed me to the limit. It was a good fight for a six-lap sprint race.”

Tucker not only reached the impressive milestone of claiming his 60th career victory but also notched his third consecutive SCCA National Championship and first in the STO category. Even more impressive, it came in his race debut of the specially prepared Porsche 996 Twin-Turbo.

“Winning my third consecutive National Championship is an incredible achievement and accomplishment and something I’m extremely proud of,” Tucker added. “It’s something we worked incredibly hard for. I’ve been running in the Runoffs since 2006 and none of these championships have been easy to win. I’m just very proud of the entire Level 5 team.”

Built and developed in conjunction with the Jeff Stone-led Kelly Moss Motorsports, both Level 5 and Kelly Moss worked tirelessly preparing the unique four-wheel-drive Porsche for its debut in one of America’s most prestigious racing events. The hard work paid off in a big way, as Tucker becomes one of the select few to have claimed a hat trick of wins in the Runoffs.

“Scott was real focused on going out and driving his hardest but not making a single mistake, and that’s what he did today,” said Level 5 team manager David Stone. “Unfortunately there were two yellows in the race, so that shortened the race time. It would have been fun to go for it for a clean race. But Scott did a really good job and everyone at Level 5 and Kelly Moss put in a great effort.

“There was a lot of time that went into the car, and it was a pretty trick car,” Stone added. “With all of the research, sourcing and bringing a lot of things together, it was a big project. But I’m glad we were able to bring home the win.”

Tucker and the Level 5 crew now head to Road Atlanta this weekend in preparation for 14th annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda, which will see both of their new HPD ARX-01g LMP2 cars in action for the 1,000-mile/10-hour endurance race that closes out the American Le Mans Series season.

I was forced into finding a auto insurance policy that worked for me and didn’t cost way too much. While I was at it, I also decided to get other insurance coverage; I didn’t need renters insurance, but car insurance, life insurance, and motorcycle insurance seemed like a good idea.

It was then that I decided that I had to look deeper into getting myself the auto insurance and the other insurance. It was as easy as getting an insurance quote; the auto insurance brokers were happy to give me a quote on what I was looking for in my auto insurance needs, and they also pointed me in the right direction concerning the motorcycle insurance and life insurance policy that would be right for me. After that I just had to decide whether I was going to go with auto insurance San Jose or auto insurance Fremont; on the one hand, auto insurance San Jose was closer, but auto insurance Fremont was more customer friendly and it was cheaper.

I decided to go with auto insurance Fremont; it wouldn’t matter how far it was in the long run, because I could do most things concerning my auto insurance and my policy and insurance coverage over the phone. I got the car insurance that was needed, and more than that so I wouldn’t be in too much of financial trouble if I got in a car accident with another auto owner. Motorcycle insurance was also mandatory because I wanted to ride my motorcycle safely. Life insurance was something that I thought would be a good idea to start early, just in case.

All in all, getting auto insurance was easier than I thought. If I had to do it again, though, I would want to follow these few tips: first, take account of what you need to insure. Whether it be your car, life, or even your farm, you should know what you are doing before you start. Second is that auto insurance quotes are a simple and easy way to show you what you will be paying; always get a quote before you start. Third, you should take into account more than one insurance company; look at the pros and cons of the insurance coverage that they have. If I had just looked at auto insurance San Jose, I would have missed out on the better customer service and price at auto insurance Fremont.

The last thing that you need to remember is that auto insurance isn’t something you do once and never look at again. You should always keep your eyes open for the best insurance prices, whether it is for auto insurance, life insurance, motorcycle insurance, renters insurance; you name it. You can always get another insurance quote and see if another insurance company has better insurance coverage than you do right now. If that is the case with your insurance, you should readjust your insurance so you get the best price for the best coverage and insurance.
The best sports car racers on the globe strive to fine great teams with great cars. For the chosen, those great rides are found with Level 5 Motorsports. Founded by American racer Scott Tucker, Level 5 has quickly made an impact on the international race scene thanks in part due to the deep pool of international talent that the team has attracted.

Marino Franchitti is the most recent addition and will be joining the team in Atlanta for Petit Le Mans is the latest in a string of impressive moves Tucker and Level 5 have made to secure their place at the pinnacle of American sports car racing.

Frenchman Christophe Bouchut, who recently collected his 100th race win, is a key factor in the rise of Level 5. His vast international experience has helped the team on the world stage and continues to impress as the team mounts a global challenge.

Adding to the roster of Francophones, the aggressive racer has frequently been joined by his countrymen. Formula 1 veteran Sebastien Bourdais partnered with the squad in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and was joined by another endurance racing star of French descent in the form of Emmanuel Collard in the same event.

Drivers with factory experience have been attracted to Level 5, one of the world’s most successful privateer teams. Drivers Sacha Maassen and Lucas Luhr have both donned the Level 5 gear in some of the most prestigious endurance events. And England has not been left out of the Level 5 line up, with Richard Westbrooke bringing his extensive European touring and GT credentials to the team as part of the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona podium-winning effort.

For the 2011 season, 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona winner Joao Barbosa, brings his Portuguese background to the mix, while Canada has been ably represented by Mark Wilkins in Level 5′s LMPC efforts. Mexico, a country with a long tradition of motorsports passion, also has a Level 5 connection in the form of Mexico’s Luis Diaz.

The roster of international talent also includes United States drivers. Starting with Missouri native Tucker and fellow American Ed Zabinski, there has been an American influence on the driving line up from the very start of the team.

And the drivers that the David Stone-led team attracts don’t all come from European road racing. Both Raphael Matos and Ryan Hunter-Reay strapped into the Level 5 prototype machines fresh from competition in the IndyCar ranks, with Hunter-Reay also part of the Rolex 24 At Daytona podium run that kicked off a championship season for Scott Tucker and Level 5.

It seems that for a team that has quickly grown from focusing on North American-based Ferrari Challenge competition to now competing at the highest level internationally, it makes perfect sense to have drivers that have that same global background. And with the trophy collection rapidly requiring more storage space, it is a strategy that is clearly working.
